Vibing with Velvet: FW17 Essentials

There are so many fall trends that I love and am here for. Between the trenches, denim, chunky sweaters and thigh high boots, there are so many options for staying warm and cute at the same time. However, a timeless fall staple for me is velvet. Here I have curated a lookbook for some of my favorite velvet items this season.

We begin with the classic velvet blouse. I thrifted this top a few months ago, and was originally hesitant to wear it because I wasn’t quite sure how to style it. The beautiful thing about velvet is its versatility; it can be worn with jeans and boots (as shown here) or with a pencil skirt and heels for a dressier look. I was going for more of a street style vibe for this lookbook, so I’ve styled it simply with some other fall staples of mine.

The next item I’ve been loving this season has been this burgundy velvet backpack. I recently purchased it from Forever21, after eyeing it for way too long (lol). I’m not usually into backpacks, but I love the mini backpack trend that’s currently popular and figured I would get in on it. This backpack is the perfect weekend hangout or date bag, as it is just big enough to hold a phone, wallet, lipgloss, and a few other essential items. It’s definitely a statement piece, and I can’t wait to style it with other looks.

Finally, let’s talk about these blush velvet boots. I purchased them from Zara at the beginning of the season (on clearance from last season). I’ve worn them in a couple of other looks, so you might have seen them if you follow me on Instagram, but I have not brought them to the blog. I’ve been rocking these boots everywhere because they are super comfortable and chic. I love that they have a block heel, as I can no longer wear stilettos (flat feet woes), and they have just enough height without me having to wobble around. These boots go best with a pair of jeans and a chunky sweater. I receive so many compliments on these booties, it’s a shame I can’t wear them with every outfit. I will link a similar look below.

You’re totally the outfit inspiration for my winter fashion.
You’re right the little backpacks are definitely making a huge comeback. I used to be so obsessed with them when I was younger. It’s a miracle that I haven’t splurge in one yet.
I loved reading your fashion post
